The White Sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus) is the largest species of freshwater fish in the United States. It has been known to reach 20' in length and 2000 lbs.in weight - although specimens of this size have not been recorded in recent years. How would you like to run into one of these babies while swimming in the river? The white sturgeon lives on the bottom of slow-moving rivers, bays, and estuarine areas, including the brackish water at the mouths of large rivers. White Sturgeon can live to be over 100 years old.
